At first glance, it may seem strange that YouTube is involved in patching the Nintendo Switch. However, it turns out that YouTube's parent company, Google, had a hand in discovering the coldboot hack.

The "Patched YouTube" App: Community members have created patched versions of the YouTube .nsp (package file) that bypass server checks.

Step 2: Interpret the Results

  • Firmware 14.0.0 or lower (especially 12.0.0–13.2.1): Your Switch is NOT patched for the YouTube exploit. You can still use Caffeine-based homebrew entrypoints, though they are finicky.
  • Firmware 14.1.0 to 15.0.1: Your Switch is PARTIALLY patched. Some older variants of the exploit may work, but it is unreliable.
  • Firmware 16.0.0 or higher: Your Switch is FULLY PATCHED. The YouTube exploit will not work, period.

I bought this thinking “patched” meant it was fixed or updated in a good way. Turns out, in the Switch modding scene, “patched” means Nintendo closed the hardware vulnerability (the Fusée Gelée exploit). That means:
