4. Creating & Managing Tax Returns

4.1 New Return

  1. Click + New Return on Dashboard.
  2. Select tax year (e.g., 2025).
  3. Choose filing status (Single, MFJ, MFS, HoH, QW).
  4. Enter taxpayer primary and secondary (if any) information:

    Importing from QuickBooks

    • Export a .iif (Intuit Interchange Format) from QuickBooks.
    • In WinTax 4: File > Import > Accounting Data.
    • Map the chart of accounts (e.g., QB "Legal Fees" -> Sch C "Legal & Professional").
