Goal

Provide a compact feature enabling users to inspect, extract, and repack Windows Phone XAP archives (Silverlight/WP8 apps) safely and easily.

• Detect XAP/ZIP format and show top-level file list (AppxManifest/WMAppManifest, DLLs, .xaml, resources).

• .dll files (the compiled code)
• .xml files (manifest and configuration)
• Assets (images, sounds, and fonts)

This means that a XAP generated for Windows Phone 7 cannot run on Windows Phone 8 without recompilation, and vice versa (though 8 devices could run 7.x XAPs via a bundled “7.x compatibility layer”). windows phone xap archive
