Vw 1.2 Tsi Injector Removal [top]
While this reads like a workshop manual, you should treat it as a high-risk procedure. Direct injection petrol systems operate at extreme pressures (up to 150 bar).
Step 8: Reinstall the Fuel Injector
: Brute force is the enemy of the TSI injector. Attempting to pry them out with screwdrivers can snap the delicate injector body or damage the expensive cylinder head. 2. The Core Removal Process vw 1.2 tsi injector removal
: Pull the fuel rail straight back. The injectors usually remain attached to the rail and will pull out of the head simultaneously. While this reads like a workshop manual, you
- Do not scrape the tip with a screwdriver (you will destroy the spray pattern).
- Use a soft brass brush or carbon cleaner spray.
- Inspect the plastic body. If you see cracks, replace the injector.
- Check the injector bore in the head. Use a bore brush to clean out old carbon chunks (vacuum them out so they don't fall into the cylinder).
- Locate the high-pressure pump on the cylinder head (driven by the exhaust camshaft).
- Using two wrenches (17mm crowfoot preferred), loosen the fitting at the pump first, then the fitting at the fuel rail.
- Remove the line. Do not bend it—discard it.
- Unbolt the fuel rail. There are two 5mm Allen bolts holding the rail to the cylinder head.
- Gently wiggle the rail. The injectors are press-fitted into the rail via clips. Pull the entire rail + injector assembly out as one unit.
Why Are We Even Here?
Before we grab the wrenches, let’s understand the enemy. The 1.2 TSI uses direct injection. We are talking about massive fuel pressure (sometimes up to 2,000+ PSI) delivered directly into the combustion chamber. Do not scrape the tip with a screwdriver
