While Broadcom briefly discontinued the free version of VMware ESXi in early 2024, they officially reinstated a free edition starting with VMware ESXi 8.0 Update 3e in April 2025.
As of April 2026, Broadcom has restored the free version of VMware ESXi 8.0, specifically starting with Release 8.0 Update 3e. After a period in 2024 when the free hypervisor was discontinued, it is now available again via the Broadcom Support Portal. vmware esxi 8 license key free link
