• Channel Identification & Phase (Tracks 1-6): Simple pink noise and voice checks. But unlike modern tests, the XLO disc uses a unique "out-of-phase" announcer track that forces you to place the phantom center.
• Bass Resonance (Tracks 12-20): Warble tones from 20Hz to 200Hz. If you play Track 12 (20Hz) on a bookshelf speaker, you will witness mechanical pity. On a full-range tower, you will find loose screws in your room.
• High-Frequency Sweeps (Tracks 21-28): Up to 20kHz. Used to test tweeter ringing.
• The "De-Tuned" Piano (Track 34): A brilliant torture test. A piano is intentionally recorded slightly out of tune. If your system has harmonic distortion, the piano sounds like a broken music box. If your system is accurate, it sounds like a strangely artistic recording.
