The Universal PS3 Eye Driver 1.0 Beta 2 (often referred to as the jkevin or PS3EyeDirectShow driver) is an open-source alternative to the old, paid Code Laboratories (CL-Eye) driver.

  1. Uninstall old drivers – Use Zadig or Device Manager to remove any previous CL Eye Driver or libusb variants.
  2. Run the installer as Administrator – The installer (about 3.2 MB) deploys two separate devices: "PS3 Eye Camera (Video)" and "PS3 Eye Camera (Audio)."
  3. Plug in the camera – Windows may initially detect it as a generic USB device; manually point the driver update to C:\Program Files\PS3EyeDriver.
  4. Reboot – Required to finalize the kernel-level hooks for high-frame-rate modes.
