Turf 82
The Legendary Turf 82: A Game-Changing Artificial Turf System
❌ Disadvantages
- Heat retention – Long dark fibers get very hot in direct sun (can exceed 160°F / 70°C).
- Matting – Heavy foot traffic can flatten fibers; requires periodic power-brushing.
- Cost – Typically $4–$8 per sq. ft. installed (more than standard 30–40mm turfs).
- Not ADA friendly – Too plush for wheelchair or walker movement.
While Turf 82 was a pioneering artificial turf system, modern sports surfaces have evolved significantly. However, Turf 82 can still be found in: turf 82

That product is obsolete, but you may encounter the name in archival racing records. Modern “Turf 82” landscaping grass is unrelated. The Legendary Turf 82: A Game-Changing Artificial Turf
