Phase 2: After 30% damage, it enrages and beelines for you. Deploy your Shark Repellent Brewbefore it hits – the brew lasts 8 seconds, just enough for you to plant all 3 explosive spears on its dorsal fin.
Reward: The Abyssal Heart (used for the best water-breathing helmet) and the Jaws of the Ancients (a brutal melee weapon).
If you finish it: You get the Alpha Hide (best armor in the game, +40% swim speed) but the lagoon becomes permanently hostile. Future visits trigger endless waves.
If you call the herd: Use the Gill Tree Conch again. A pod of Orcas arrive and drag the Alpha out to sea. Reward: Orca Totem (use once to clear any water zone of all threats). Plus, sharks in the lagoon become passive for the remainder of your playthrough.
