Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyah (1292-1350 CE) was a prominent Islamic scholar, theologian, and philosopher from Damascus, Syria. He was a student of the famous Islamic scholar Ibn Taymiyyah and went on to become one of the most influential thinkers of his time. Ibn Qayyim's works cover various aspects of Islam, including theology, jurisprudence, spirituality, and philosophy.

In the "extra quality" version, a footnote became legible for the first time. It was a rare commentary by the Ibn Qayyim, explaining that this "fire" was not a destructive force, but a purifying one—a patch for the human soul, fixing the glitches of ego and desire.
