While the original film is celebrated as Chan’s directorial debut and a milestone in the kung fu comedy genre, its localized Hindi version represents a distinct cultural artifact. By analyzing the film's narrative structure, Jackie Chan’s evolving star persona, and the idiosyncrasies of the Indian Home Video market, this paper argues that the Hindi dub of The Fearless Hyena served as a crucial vehicle for Jackie Chan’s enduring stardom in the Indian subcontinent, effectively bridging the gap between Cantonese action cinema and Indian mass entertainment.
