The Oceanographic Research Vessel (ORV) Sagar Kanya is India's premier multidisciplinary research ship, owned by the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) and operated by the National Centre for Polar and Ocean Research (NCPOR). Built in Germany and commissioned in 1983, it serves as a versatile "ocean-observing platform" for geoscientific, meteorological, and oceanographic research across the Indian Ocean, Arabian Sea, and Bay of Bengal.
