Step-by-step using the Aerosoft v1.20 mission:
- Position: Hold over the RTT VOR (115.20 MHz) at 12,000 ft.
- Configuration: Flaps 15, Landing Gear down. Speed 150 knots (A320/B737) or 120 knots (Dash 8).
- The Turn: At DME 13, turn left to 090° to intercept the LOC for Runway 08 (Frequency 111.15 MHz).
- The “Canyon”: Descend on the LOC to 9,800 ft. Do not go lower. You will see the Nordkette mountain range on your right—close enough to read the chairlifts.
- The Breakout: At DME 4.8, the runway appears behind a small hill. You must disconnect the autopilot here.
- The Steep Descent: Drop landing flaps, reduce to Vref, and pitch down to follow the 3.5° slope. The runway threshold appears rapidly.
- Flare: Over the A14 motorway tunnel, flare. The runway rises slightly; use the PAPI lights (Left 4 red if too high).
