  1. Use cloud licenses for hot-desking or remote engineering – Rehost not needed.
  2. Document hardware changes – Plan rehosts before replacing motherboards or SSDs.
  3. Implement a shared license server (Network License) – Avoids per-workstation rehost entirely.
  4. Train local IT on CodeMeter Control Center – Dongle-based rehost remains the most reliable for air-gapped environments.
  5. Monitor rehost count via EPLAN Admin Dashboard – Set alerts when any user reaches 3 of 5 allowed rehosts.

Select Complete Revoke (online) to return the license directly. Enter your Entitlement ID (EID). Click Complete Revoke to send the license back to EPLAN.

License Revocation (Return): Returning an active license to the EPLAN license server so it can be reused on another machine. Use cloud licenses for hot-desking or remote engineering

The 2026 Audit Risk

EPLAN has publicly stated that from 2026 onward, they will perform automated annual audits using telemetry data. If a rehost is performed without proper documentation (e.g., hardware failure ticket), the system can flag the license as “inconsistent” and suspend it until manual review.
