Durood Sharif (also known as Salawat) refers to the invocation of peace and blessings upon the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). It is a central act of devotion in Islam, commanded by Allah in the Quran: "Indeed, Allah and His angels send blessings upon the Prophet.
